Author Guidelines

APPROACH:

Aimed at researchers, its objective is to publish original and unpublished research articles, in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, of international scope, that comply with the stipulations of the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) code of ethics, to which the journal adheres. The editorial and scientific team has an ethical and responsible commitment to applying the journal's policy and management, using plagiarism detection tools. Its periodicity is semi-annual. It publishes a minimum of 18 articles distributed in 2 issues per year, under an Open Access system. The journal uses an external, anonymous, peer-review system, using the "double-blind" method (double-blind peer review). As the journal is in permanent call for papers, interested parties can submit their manuscripts through the OJS platform.

TOPICS:

  • Social innovation: Family school, Social enterprises, Inclusive tourism, and others.

  • Sport and society: Sports training, children's sports, applied sciences in sports training, sports planning, and others.

  • Physical activity and health: Prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases, recreation and leisure, outdoor activities, fitness, among others.

  • Business administration: Corporate social responsibility, circular economy, managerial processes, supply chains, entrepreneurship, among others.

  • Educational strategies: Professional training, Inclusive professional specialization, Invisible pedagogy, educational didactics, and others.

GENERAL INFORMATION GADE Journal is a bilingual publication of RED GADE under the FUNGADE Editorial Seal, NIT 901294218-8, registered with the Colombian Book Chamber and the National Library of that country. It has a semi-annual periodicity, with its first issue in April 2020. It is a refereed publication that uses an external expert review system (peer-review), in accordance with the APA 7.0 (American Psychological Association) publication standards. Compliance with these requirements facilitates its indexing in major international databases, guaranteeing greater dissemination of the published articles and, therefore, of their authors and workplaces. In addition, all scientific articles will have an originality report through the Turnitin anti-plagiarism software (Indexing).

SCOPE AND POLICY: GADE Journal accepts research articles on the established descriptors (2.1) written in Spanish or English. Works must be original, not have been published in any medium, nor be in the process of publication, with authors being responsible for complying with this rule. Contributions to the journal can be research papers with 6,000/8,000 words of text, including title, abstracts, descriptors, tables, and references. Publications will be semi-annual (20 articles per year) and each issue will have five sections with 2 articles in each. Articles will be received through the public call for submissions through RED GADE publication calls coordinated by experts in the field (Editorial Committee).

EDITORIAL PROCESS: GADE: Revista Científica acknowledges receipt of submitted works by authors and informs by e-mail (vicepresidenciaredgade@gmail.com) and on the platform about the estimation/disregard and acceptance/rejection process, as well as, in case of acceptance, the editing process. The official website (Standards section) offers the complete publication standards, a pre-submission checklist, the manuscript structure format, the cover letter and originality statement, a fillable cover, the OJS manuscript submission guide (manager), as well as the evaluation protocol for external reviewers. Within a maximum period of 30 days from the receipt of each work, authors will receive a notification of receipt, indicating whether the work is formally disregarded or preliminarily estimated for evaluation by scientific advisors. If the manuscript presents formal deficiencies or is not included in the thematic focus of the publication, the Editorial Committee will formally or thematically disregard the work with no option for resubmission. No further correspondence will be maintained with authors of disregarded articles. Conversely, if it presents superficial formal deficiencies, it will be returned to the author for correction before the start of the evaluation process. The entry date of the work will not count until the correct receipt of the manuscript. It is recommended that the manuscript be checked with the self-checklist before submission. Manuscripts will be scientifically evaluated, anonymously, by an average of two experts in the field; if there are differing criteria, it will be sent to a third expert. In view of the external reports (see annex to the evaluation protocol for scientific reviewers), the acceptance/rejection of articles for publication will be decided, as well as the introduction, if applicable, of appropriate modifications in terms of length, structure, or style, respecting the content of the original. The protocol used by the journal's reviewers is public. The scientific evaluation period for works, once the preliminary estimation procedures by the Editorial Committee have been completed, is a maximum of 90 days. The average time for scientific review is 60 days and for final acceptance is 60 days. Works that are positively evaluated and require modifications (both minor and major) will be returned within a maximum of 15 days. All authors will receive anonymous scientific evaluation reports so that they can make (if applicable) the appropriate improvements or replies.

ARTICLE ACCEPTANCE: Authors of accepted articles, before final editing, will receive print proofs for correction by email in PDF format, for orthographic correction within a maximum of three days. Only minimal corrections to the content of the original manuscript already evaluated can be made. Once the manuscript is finally accepted, authors will submit the final version in English or Spanish (depending on the original version) for bilingual editing in GADE Journal, which will guarantee its international consultation and dissemination. The translated text must have professional quality. Prior to the publication of the journal issue, articles will be available with their corresponding DOI in the Preprints section (articles in press) on the official website. In general, once the external scientific reviews have been considered, the criteria that justify the Editorial Committee's decision on the acceptance/rejection of works are as follows: a) Timeliness and novelty. b) Relevance and significance: advancement of scientific knowledge. c) Originality. d) Scientific reliability and validity: proven methodological quality. e) Organization (logical coherence and formal presentation). f) External support and public/private funding. g) Co-authorship and degree of internationalization of the proposal and the team. i) Presentation.

GENERAL RULES: Manuscripts must be submitted exclusively through OJS 3: (http). All authors must register, with their credentials, on the OJS platform, indicating the author responsible for correspondence.

  • No author may submit or have two manuscripts under review simultaneously.

  • Works must be presented in Arial 10 font, single-spaced, fully justified, and without tabs or carriage returns between paragraphs. Only large blocks (author, title, abstracts, descriptors, credits, and headings) are separated by a single return. The page must have two cms margins on all sides. Works must be submitted in Word for PC. The file must be anonymized in File Properties so that the authors' identification does not appear.

  • Publication standards are based on APA 7.

STRUCTURE

  • Presentation and Cover (see official model): In this file, signed by the authors with all their complete data, the evaluation of the manuscript is requested, along with a declaration (see annex) of: Being an original contribution, not submitted to other journals during the evaluation and publication process, a confirmation of the signing authors, acceptance, if applicable, of formal changes in the manuscript in accordance with the standards, and partial assignment of rights to Editorial FUNGADE. This file will also contain: • Article title (concise but informative), in Spanish on the first line and then in English, composed with the greatest possible number of significant terms. A maximum of 15 to 18 words are accepted. Therefore, if these do not correctly capture the meaning of the work, it may be modified. • Full name and surname of each author in order of precedence (the number must be justified by the topic, its complexity, and its length, with the average for the area being three authors). In case of more than three authors, it is prescriptive to substantively justify the original contribution of the team, as it will be given high consideration in the manuscript's estimation. Along with the names, the professional category, workplace or affiliation, email address of each author, and ORCID number must follow. It is mandatory to indicate if they hold a doctoral degree (include Dr./Dra. before the name). The academic signature (name) must be standardized according to international conventions to facilitate identification in major databases (Here). It is prescriptive to register in the International Register of Researchers (ORCID). • Abstract in Spanish of 220/250 words, concisely describing the motive and objective of the research, the methodology used, the most outstanding results, and main conclusions, with the following structure: justification of the topic, objectives, study methodology, results, and conclusions. It must be written impersonally. • Abstract in English of 200/230 words. For its elaboration, as well as for the title and keywords, the use of automatic translators is not allowed due to their poor quality. Reviewers also analyze this factor when evaluating the work, and our reviewers analyze the linguistic level and style if necessary. • 8 keywords in Spanish / 8 Keywords in English. The use of these descriptors and the UNESCO Thesaurus (Here) will be taken into account. Only in exceptional cases are new terms accepted. The terms must be in standardized scientific Spanish/English.

MANUSCRIPT (See Annex on the website for Manuscript Submission Structure). Title (Spanish) / Title (English) Abstract (Spanish) / Abstract (English) Descriptors (Spanish) / Keywords (English)

  1. Introduction and state of the art: Must include the foundations and purpose of the study, using bibliographic citations, as well as a review of the most significant literature on the topic at national and international levels.

  2. Material and methods: Must be presented with sufficient precision for the reader to understand and confirm the development of the research. Where applicable, the sample and sampling strategies will be described, as will reference to the type of statistical analysis employed. If it is an original methodology, it is necessary to explain the reasons that led to its use and describe its possible limitations.

  3. Analysis and results: The most important observations should be highlighted, describing, without making value judgments, the material and methods used, as well as the most relevant results of the research. Results will be presented in figures or/and tables according to journal standards (see other notes). Indispensable tables or figures will appear in a logical sequence in the text, avoiding data redundancy.

  4. Discussion and conclusions: This section will summarize the findings, relating one's own observations to other studies of interest, pointing out contributions and limitations, without reiterating data already commented on in other sections. It should mention the inferences of the findings and their limitations, including deductions for future research, as well as link the conclusions with the study objectives, avoiding gratuitous statements and conclusions not fully supported by the work's data.

  5. Support: The Council of Science Editors recommends authors specify the source of research funding. Works supported by competitive national and international projects will be given priority. In any case, for the scientific evaluation of the manuscript, it must be anonymized with XXXX only for its initial evaluation, in order not to identify authors and research teams, which must be specified in the Cover Letter and subsequently in the final manuscript.

  6. References: Bibliographic citations must be noted as references in the text. Bibliography not cited in the text should not be included. Their number must be sufficient and necessary to contextualize the theoretical framework, the methodology used, and the research results in an international research space. They will be presented alphabetically by the author's first surname (adding the second only if the first is very common, and linked with a hyphen). Citations should preferably be extracted from original documents, primarily journals and to a lesser extent books, according to APA 7.0 standard (http://bit.ly/2JkuWs8), valuing the inclusion of not only national references but also prestigious international journals.
