Protocol for evaluating the physical fitness tests of pioneer karate practitioners
Abstract
The theoretical and research background of karate demonstrates that the evaluation of physical fitness as a process has been insufficiently addressed, with traditional conceptions for assessing this component still predominating. Given the current importance of this topic, this research aimed to develop an evaluation protocol for the physical fitness tests of pioneer karate practitioners. A quantitative approach with a descriptive scope was adopted, allowing for the precise characterization of the phenomena studied. The methods used included analytical-synthetic, inductive-deductive, document analysis, structured surveys, expert judgment, and statistical-mathematical analysis. The analysis derived from the application of these methods confirms that the tests lack indicators, measurement criteria, an evaluative scale, and indices that would allow for the assessment of the physical fitness of pioneer karate practitioners. The results obtained from the assessment and application of the physical fitness test evaluation protocol for children in karate showed that it meets the essential scientific and technical requirements to efficiently conduct the process. Its relevance is corroborated by evaluating its usefulness and social quality, and its potential to offer coaches new guidance on physical fitness assessment is recognized.
