Coordination and corporal expression in urban dance: systematic review
Abstract
Urban dance is a genre originating in urban neighborhoods focusing on coordination and body expression to communicate emotions and feelings through movements. This systematic review was carried out by searching databases following the guidelines of the PRISMA statement, it examined studies from the last 15 years and found 14 studies that met the inclusion criteria, and the results indicate that coordination is essential in this dance. since it allows dancers to move in a synchronized and harmonious way with other dancers and music, improving their safety and preventing injuries. Coordination can improve dancers' ability to coordinate their movements and adapt to different rhythms and styles of dance. Body expression is fundamental in urban dance, since it allows dancers to communicate emotions and feelings through their movements. Body expression can enhance the dancers' ability to communicate emotions and develop their own artistic identity. Studies have suggested that dancers' ability to express emotions through their bodies can have a positive impact on their emotional well-being. The findings of this study may have important implications for the design of training and education programs in urban dance.
