Abstract

Physical activity carried out safely, effectively and regularly provides important health benefits to older adults (PAM). Group physical exercise programs in open spaces for this population are recommended. The purpose of this article is to describe the “Getting Moving with UFLO” program. This group exercise program for PAM in outdoor public spaces aims to improve or maintain the dimensions of physical fitness and thus the health of PAM during the aging period. It is based on the concept of diversity of the PAM and meets the standards of affordability, safety and effectiveness. The “A MOverte con UFLO” program is made up of three stages; 1) Diagnostic stage, in which we propose to establish the baseline of the binomial of safety and effectiveness for each of the participants 2) familiarization stage, we seek to introduce participants to the fundamentals of the program, this period includes a process motor realliteracy as well as self-care 3) design and implementation of the program through multicomponent activity sessions in which the different dimensions of physical fitness that are most related to health are developed. Finally, an evaluation process is carried out to review the execution of the program and assess its effectiveness at the end of the period.
