Acrosport to Strengthen Teamwork and Problem Solving in 13-14 Year Olds at an Educational Institution in Manta

Abstract

This study analyzes how acrosport can strengthen socioemotional skills, specifically teamwork and problem-solving, in 13- to 14-year-old students at an educational institution in Manta. The educational intervention based on this discipline, which combines elements of gymnastics and sports in cooperative and inclusive activities, promoted cooperation, communication, and trust among participants. The results show a significant improvement in students' perceptions and attitudes toward these skills, evidenced by changes in self-assessment and diagnostic questionnaires. Participation in acrosport fosters environments where students experience and practice collective decision-making, strengthening group cohesion and effectiveness in conflict resolution. The research supports the relevance of acrosport as an innovative educational tool that not only develops physical skills but also essential soft skills for social integration and professional success, such as cooperation, leadership, and confidence. It also highlights that this type of cooperative sports activity can contribute to preventing discriminatory attitudes and promoting inclusion. The application of these activities in education allows young people to develop fundamental skills during their formative years, improving their academic and social performance in the long term.
