Abstract

This study evaluated the impact of a tactical periodization (TP) program on specific endurance in U15 soccer players, defined as the ability to sustain intermittent high-intensity efforts in game-like contexts. A quasi-experimental design was developed with pretest-posttest measurements and a comparison between an experimental group (TP) and a control group (conventional training). Twenty-eight players from local academies participated, distributed by convenience sampling. Specific endurance was assessed using the Probst test, recording total distance, average speed per segment, and sustained time. The intervention lasted 20 weeks, organized into standard morphocycles subordinate to the game model, with representative tasks (small-sided games, conditioned transitions, and competitive simulation) and control of density (work-rest ratio) and load progression. Statistical analysis included tests for intra-group and between-group changes. The results showed significant improvements in the PT group compared to the control group in the Probst indicators (p < 0.01), with increases in distance covered and sustained speed. These findings support PT as an effective strategy for developing specific endurance in training contexts, facilitating the transfer of training to the real competitive demands of youth soccer.
