Basic motor skills for educational institutions
Abstract
Basic motor skills typically encompass a more refined range of physical abilities. Children at this age tend to show significant improvement in their coordination, balance, and specific skills related to sports and more complex physical activities. At this level, progress is seen in locomotion skills, such as running, jumping, throwing and catching, that have been developed over the previous years. In addition, they tend to acquire greater precision in fine motor activities, which allows them to make more detailed and controlled movements. Specific sports skills, such as hitting techniques in sports such as baseball, tennis or hockey, as well as skills in team sports such as football, basketball or volleyball, become more complex and refined. Children can understand and apply more advanced strategies, as well as improve their hand-eye coordination and teamwork skills.
