Abstract

The teaching of literacy has presented difficulties that are particularly evident at the Santa Fe Ralito Educational Institution, Nuevo Paraíso campus. In this educational context, students present difficulties such as syllabic reading, lack of reading fluency, limited text comprehension, incomplete spelling, and omission of phonemes. These problems are not limited solely to the Spanish Language area, but transcend into all subjects, generating a widespread academic impact. Furthermore, the situation is complicated by contextual factors that include the rural public nature of the institution, families from low socioeconomic strata, and a community where one in three inhabitants is registered as a victim of the armed conflict. Consequently, these local results reflect a worrying regional trend that, according to the ERCE (2019), shows how reading skills progressively decline as students advance academically. Therefore, it is important to consider that, as Santamaría (2022) states, effective learning requires students with self-esteem and motivation toward new knowledge.
