Evaluation of motor skills in children during soccer practice, from The Castellana neighborhood of Monteria
Abstract
Soccer is the mass sport par excellence and the one with the greatest universal confluence. The initiation in this sport requires the development of certain motor skills that can condition the success in the training of the athlete. The objective of this research was to assess motor skills in children who are starting to play soccer. The study was focused from the empirical analytical, descriptive, transversal and quantitative level. 7 males with an age range between 8 and 13 years were intentionally selected, to whom the 3JS test of motor skills was applied, the 7 established dimensions were evaluated as: vertical jump, bounce, longitudinal turn, manual oculo throw, precision throw with lower limbs, slalom race with obstacles, driving the ball in slalom. Participants received prior inductions and familiarization with the test battery, and parents signed informed consent. Among the main results, it was observed that 71% (5 children) performed the tests at a perfect level, while (2 children) reached the maximum level of excellent. As conclusions, it was established that the participants show themselves to be in an adequate training path in soccer according to their ages and times of having started practicing this sport. It is recommended to carry out periodic controls in the development of motor skills through the application of the 3JS test, to monitor the progress in learning in stages of sports initiation in soccer.
