Development of critical reflection in diverse educational contexts through metacognition and interculturality

Abstract

The study focuses on the relationship between interculturality and metacognition strategies within the area of Language and Literature, specifically on the way in which both can intervene to develop critical reflection. Therefore, it has been defined to analyze the relationship between metacognition and critical reflection in intercultural educational contexts. A mixed documentary and field approach was used, due to the analysis of primary sources obtained from the survey technique and its questionnaire applied to a population of 25 teachers; and descriptive statistics executed using SPSS and Atlas.ti software of the findings of the Ser Estudiante evaluation, school year 2022 -2023 of the 4th and 7th EGB, with a sample of 1000 people. To determine the reliability of this research, Cronbach's Alpha was used with a percentage of 86%. Among the most important findings it was obtained that the integration of texts from different ancestral cultures encourages reflective discussion in students about their own cultural perspectives, since a correlation result of 0.006% is obtained, thus we prove that there is a direct relationship with the study phenomenon; however, the predominance of mestizo culture in the educational curriculum influences the level of achievement in the area. Finally, it is concluded that metacognition strategies influence the development of critical reflection of students in diverse educational contexts.

I specialize in teaching with a constructivist approach, with knowledge of action research methodologies and reflection, based on problems and projects, especially considering the post-pandemic effects.
